RE: More on overboost
Sorry to disappoint you Brendan, I have no intentions of blowing my motor
(already sunk plenty of money in the rebuild).
Actually I think 15psi with a K26 is pretty conservative. I've driven
several 10vt and 20vt cars with (lesser) K24's here in Colorado, running max
sustained boost of anywhere from 17-20psi (yes, too high). Chad had no
reliability problems running 18psi on his K24 5000 (about .5 point lower
compression than mine , single knock sensor only). He ran several different
ECU's, all of which had the stock 2.0 bar PT, aftermarket chip, and fuel
pump cutout disabled.
The benefit is going to come from running sustained 15psi in ALL gears. The
highest I see consistently now is 11psi, with peaks of 13psi in the higher
gears.
Of course, sufficient fuel, proper timing curves, good quality gas, low
ambient temps are all necessary ingredients to running this much boost.
We will make the necessary ECU mods to make this work, though I doubt a 2.5
bar PT is realistic at this time. (I am obviously not an EE; the ECU mods
are much better left to experts)

Woohoo!
I get to hear explosions!
Can I watch when you are at the wheel when it blows?
