RE: WTB 272 Cam

I rode in Bruce's car at Pikes peak and at 6,000 feet it was pulling MUCH
stronger than my 4kq was.  Same with Ned Ritchie.  his Daughters car pulls
much stronger as well.  Just keeps pulling right to 6,700 RPM.  $500 is a
lot to spend but with a few other mods to complement it its a great
mod.  With a cam though the intake is very restrictive.  And I'm not sure
I agree about the Exhaust.
	On my 4kq, replacing the 2.25" with a 2.5" exhaust with a Borla
Muffler really make it pull stronger.  My 50-70 times dropped, as did my
0-60.  Before it would start to die before 6k RPM as do most 4kq's I've
driven.  Afterward it charged right past 6k.  There was a slight hiccup
int he poer curve around 4,800 for a brief second (like 1/4 second if
that) but it pulled much stronger.  Same with my GF's car.  Both running
2.5" Cat Back with single 2.5" mufflers in back.  
	Anyhow, what info do you have to counter this.  I'd love to see
those graphs.  Cyclic is one thing, but f the lows in the cycle are the
same as the flat curve of the OEm system and the highs give more power
then 2.5" will be faster.  At any rate, torque may be effected a bit.  Not
sure.  Low end power seemed un-changed with the 2.5" system.  But above 4k
RPM it really ran better.  And when I want power thats where i spend my
time so for me it was worth it.  If you dont drive hard then the
2.25" system might be better if it gives a fatter torque curve down low.  
	I do know this though.  Before exhaust, friend with 4kq and i were
always neck and neck in a drag race.  After, I'd have about a car length
by part way through 3rd gear.  Or Topped out in 3rd maybe.  60-80 not
sure.  That tells me that my seat of the pants feeling was correct.  
	Oh, yea, and I agree.  I think 272 probably better than 276 for a
street car.  maybe with the 2.3l mtoor and ported heads the 276 would see
more benefit.
