4kq MC transplant questions

A friend is considering starting an MC transplant for his '86 4kq.
Does he need the tranny and diffs for this, or can the engine bolt
directly to his tranny? Clutch assembly?

Anyone know a ballpark figure as to how much this kind of a job will
cost to perform by a pro? $3k? $5k? More?

I was seriously thinking about getting a 4kq and doing the MC transplant
as well, but I can't afford having two cars right now and you can't exactly
do the transplant in one weekend, can you?
