Re: MC conversion questions (4KQ)
Yea, I forgot to mention the hole in the MC Intake. Round and oval TB's
are not interchangeable. Anyhow, I bet the oval TB flows more air as
well. I tried fitting a piece of round reinfoced hose that works with the
oval units on the round and it was to big. About 1/4" diameter difference
I would guess. Thats a big difference in flow. I noticed that my
throttle seems to open faster though. Quicker Throttle response and a
more sensitive throttle so I guess the small part of the Egg Shaped TB
makes part throttle response less touchy. I actually prefer the faster
response but my 8.8:1 compression ratio could have something to do with
that. :-)
I dont like the idea of filling with aluminum weld but I spose it
would work fine. Actually, I spose it would work in your example, but I
wouldnt want to go the other way around. Either way, I noticed the
WOT/Idle switch thing too. Wonder what others did here. Gary said he
used the MC TB. (I think he did, cant remember for sure) ANd I know Pat
Martin did. Anyone else use an early Manifold/TB with MC harness. I'm
using the early stuff but I have a KH harness that works fine with its own
WOT switch setup. (simple but beefy. Much bigger than the 5ktq MC setup)
ANyhow, I'll shut up know. Need to write a paper.
