Eureka, Solved Rear Suspension Noise

I'd posted a help request recently to identify the source of rear suspension
jarring when going over minor road surface gaps such as expansion joints. I
got some helpful advice, but before I was able to attempt any of the
suggested fixes, I replaced my two rear tires. Living in So. Calif., there
is a tendancy not to pay a lot of attention to tread wear, and they were
both essentially bare. Low and behold, the jarring dissappeared with the new
tires. Apparently the treadless tires were causing a "slapping" action of
the tire on the pavement. I never would have believed it could have been
true had a tire salesman had told me, but "seeing" (feeling in this case) is
believing. The only bad part is that I don't know why the tires (180 wear
rating) wore out so quickly. Previous similar ones had lasted 30,000+ miles.
These two were bare at 10,000 miles. I replaced them with 300 wear rated
tires. Any thoughts?
