Re: VW in trouble over SAP roll-out

Volkswagen started the SAP rollout from the Nordic depot in Södertälje,
Sweden early this year. From that day on, partswise, life has been hellish.
It was bearable until Kassel went online as well. Everything from the most
common service parts onwards is affected.

On the positive side, we're OK for pads and rod ends, both campaigns are
pretty much complete, and we even have A4/A6/Passat control arms now in
inventory so we don't have half of our customers driving cars that sound
like beds from cheap motels.

I feel sorry for my parts and service guys for the stuff they have to put up
with day after day. With the slippery stuff on the ground now, life will
get more interesting. For example, we have now two seriously damaged new
S4's waiting for repair estimates. I excpect the repair estimates to be
around USD 20K and 50K for the two cars respectively. If the worse of the
two cars' estimates starts to approach 60K (50% of new replacement cost), I
will gladly see the car written off. It might be fall before all the parts
are here at today's response rates.
