I've done this 2 (3?) times on Rover V8 engines (for our US cousins, this is
the old Buick/Oldsmoblie 215ci V8). It was (probably still is) an accepted
performance mod as most of the available hi-po cams were not hydraulic.
Valve clearance was controlled with adjustable push-rods.

Doing this to an Audi I5? Can't see the point. Unless of course you have
access to some trick I5 cam grind.
