You don't need a Big Block of wood.  You need Bear Bait (I believe
Unka Bart used this term).  If you know the road and keep a careful
eye out, you know where the Revenue Collectors are.  If you don't know
the road, wait for BB.  Get in behind one of these and you can make
good time.  Stay about a quarter of a mile back, and keep an eye out
behind.  See any braking going on up front or something suspicious
from behind, you're in the right lane again.  Last speeding ticket I
was lucky enough to receive was 25+ years ago.  It's a major PITA here
in Nova Scotia.  The out of pocket isn't so bad, but losing your
licence for a week would be a real PITA! 

I have never tried this and do not condone speeding under any
circumstances :)
