5K problems

Happy Holidays,

I know things will be slow on the list during this period, but here's the
situation.  I'm trying to get my parent's '87 5K running smoothly again.
Since I live out of state, I haven't been around to take care of it since
it was new.  One problem, I can get the car running, but after driving it,
it will not start (and there's a smell of gas fumes).  After it sits a
while, it will start.  Another problem, the car runs extremely rough at
idle.  Lastly, the coolant indicator light on the center panel comes on
even though there's coolant in the reservior, the car is not running hot,
and there are no visible leaks.

Any help appreciated.
