handbrake

I am having a problem adjusting the hand brake on my 88 5kq.  I just replaced the rear rotors, pads, and the right rear caliper because the piston was stuck.  I followed the Bentley manual to the word and still no parking brake.  I called the people at Blau, since this is where I got the parts, and they say you have to turn the caliper piston in all of the way until it stops then back it out one turn.  I have the pistons in only far enough to clear the pads.  Has anyone else had this problem?
