General

This is a simple lead connecting a nine-volt battery across the idle stabilisation valve

The ISV is delicate internally (surface mounted rubber ring seal) and should not be prodded with implements
Some ISVs react badly to the full 12V of a car battery - it lets the smoke out
A PP9 battery has a high internal resistance and cannot damage the valve
As well as allowing simple testing (press the button and blow through the valve) it also allows operation of the valve while immersed in a cleaning solution
