Type 44 exhaust and idling tests
(RS, SH (07.88>) engine - Keihin II carburetor)

	See page 18. With ignition switched off connect up test appliance for ignition timing, engine speed (e.g., VAG 1367) and CO content (e.g., VAG 1363A). On vehicles with catalyst connect CO tester to CO measuring pipe in engine compartment. When doing this, the hose of the adapter VAG 1363/3 must fit tightly onto CO measuring pipe, to ensure that it is free of leaks. Start engine and run at idling speed. Check ignition timing
	With TDC sender: The ignition timing point is shown directly on the tester. With stroboscope: Flash ignition timing point If required, adjust ignition timing by rotating distributor
	Check idling speed and CO content and if necessary adjust to the appropriate specifications by alternately rotating the regulating valve A for idling speed and the CO adjustment screw B After adjustment lock adjustment screw with new anti-tamper cap #055 129 445A After completing adjustment see notes on page 18
