[200q20v] Switching to synthetic?

Hey all,

  My 200 20v has 156k miles on it now and it is burning some amounts of oil. I would
like to do something to perhaps stop this. One suggestion that I know mercedes
mechanics have been using to stop oil burning is to switch to synthetic oil. Does
anyone know if this may help in my 200? If so what needs to be replaced if I switch
to synthetic, any gaskets or seals? Thanks a lot.

BTW; This car has run on Castrol GTX 10w-30 for as lonf as I know..
