Car has 144K miles on it.  Mechanic hypothesizes that the boot had been ripped
and the CV contaminated.  When it failed, I had the wheel at full lock right and
started from a stop, so a lot of force on it.  2 blocks later, complete failure.

I have the old CV and may clean it up and post pics, if anyone is interested.
