The temp gauge info is from a different sensor (within the MFTS) than
the one that reports an "overheat" condition (an erroneous overheat
signal to the ECU will cause low boost). So the temp gauge response
is really not a reliable diagnostic of MFTS causing low boost.
Inoperative A/C certainly does indicate a possible MFTS overheat
condition.
