disassembling 80/90/200 door handles

Hi,

Does anyone know the right technique and/or tools to remove the outer
metal covers from the flush 80/90/200 style exterior door handles? 
There is a plastic piece that pushes in from the side and retains the
metal cover, and there's a tab that needs to be depressed somehow to
do it without breaking it.

I'm trying to swap the (other three, pearl) metal plates onto my
(black) handles for my pearl 200q20v.
