Heater blows hot air -lots of it

I think the V8 is like the 200 in that the heater valve is open unless A/C
is in use and the heater core therefore is hot in normal operation. The
control of the cabin heat is by flaps in the heater core box that direct
cold air from outside either into the cabin or over the heater core or a
mix of both. The flaps are controlled by a little electric motor assembly
on the driver side of the heater core box. It's under a cover that's held
on by several screws. The motor thingy is a dealer item at about $60.
There is one of those sliding electrical connector gizmos controlling motor
operation that MAY be made functional by cleaning off the connector.
Someone on the V8 or 200q20v lists reported they were going to try the
cleaning process, but I never saw a report of whether it was successful.
Motor replacement is darn near impossible without removing the windshield
wiper assembly.
