Thanks for your insight Mike!
here's' my deal - what I've learned from my 10 years with my Taurus SHO is that if you want the car a certain way - just do it!
i bought the SHO with 62,500 on it in early 1999. i left it stock, but will had fun with it until it had 103,000 miles. at which time, i bought a bunch of sho shop stuff used - underdrive pulleys, sho shop y-pipe with high flow cats, pro flow 77mm maf and edlebrock exhaust. once i took it out for a spin, i couldn't believe what i was missing for the last 40,000 miles. the car dynoed 211HP to the front wheels (about 250 at the crank) - a 30HP improvement. not bad for an already high strung normally aspirated 3.0L V6.
soon after that my cheapie Remington H-rated 215/60/16's were shot. i bought some Yokohama AVS-ES100 225/55/zr16 and couldn't believe what i was missing after 45,000 miles
then i got some used eibach springs and new tokico struts, sho shop subframe connectors, sho nut aluminum subframe bushings and a 26mm rear sway bar from an 89 SHO (remember, front wheel drive) at 114,000. with the power, rubber and suspension set up - the thing whaled straight into a corner and stuck like glue - now i really got to thinking. i could NOT believe i drove the car so long with out enjoying it all dialed in.
point being - i'm not planning on pissing money away, but doing enough research to make wise choices to get the Audi tastefully modded so i can really enjoy it.
it's not getting any younger and neither am i ;-)
see ya,
Robby
