Displeased? No, just bowing out of an overly worn thread.
Dampening means to moisten. Damping is the friction applied to a
resonant spring / mass system.

I’m saying no such thing! I have no idea what you mean by a more
aggressive spring. Shocks don’t have rebound, they control rebound.
For a given unsprung weight, the shock must be matched to the spring
rate. This match, “critical damping” is that in which the unsprung
weight returns to its SRH at zero velocity in the shortest possible
time. In an under damped system the weight overshoots the SRH and
bounces the wheel off the pavement. In an over damped system the
wheel is slow to return to SRH and thus the system is ill prepared to
receive the next bump in a timely manner (that Bilstein feel). More
theory than you ever wanted to know, or are capable of applying?
