stuck seat belt

I'm going to guess that the reels on your avant are bolted to the chassis
underneath the seat bottom, and perhaps some debris has filtered through the
folded seat crevices to jam in there. Are both sides stopping the seat back
from raising fully, or just one? If the seat bottom still comes out like the
sedan (two Philips heads then up and out) and isn't hinged at the front like
my Golf, I think your best bet may be to take that out and see if you can
inspect the reels with a flashlight/headlamp given the available room before
the belt stops the seatback from rising any more. As far as trying to get
more slack from the stuck reel, take it slow and gentle.
