Heater valve

The default position of the heater valve is open--to allow coolant flow
through the heater core. Cabin heat vent Temperature regulation is by
having the flaps in the heater core box set to have air from the blower
bypass--or not--the heater core. The flaps are controlled by that
little motor on the driver side of the heater core box. The valve
closes upon a vacuum supplied via the HVAC controller. As I read the
Bentley, (D8-40-1), the electrical contact is there to show whether the
heater valve is open or closed. Far as I can tell, its only purpose is
to throw a fault code if the valve remains open while the A/C operates.
There is mention in the exhaustive HVAC diagnostics that if you have
less than minimum specified A/C function, be sure the valve closes when
the A/C is activated.

I parked it on the side of the road and when I got home ordered a replacement. There were 2 different types to order, one with an electrical connector on it and one without. I recall that there was a connector on mine but when I searched for the valve in the bentley I couldn't find it. Do some cars have the connector while others don't? I believe the connector has something to do with the a/c. Tia.
