Airbag clock spring or later model steering wheel that will work...

Just have someone with a vag-com reset the light. Although an airbag fault might be the problem, the chances are this is simply the same flaw that has plagued the '91 200 airbag light circuit (and presumably NOT airbag function) since the car was born. From what I recall, the airbag light activation seems to be highly correlated with battery disconnection events. IMHO, just reset it and forget it (until the next time). Or, since the light does go out after a while (doesn't it?), just forget it and skip the "reset".
