Is the VAG Com necessary when installing chip?  Read about an inobilizer code.. wasnt planning on picking up VAG Com cable until Weekend and chip was planned for today...  Here is what I found.

Here's the procedure:
1. Install the new ECU
2. Turn the key to the "on" position
3. Plug in the VAG tool cable
4. Display Group 17 (instrument cluster)
5. Select Group 10 (adaptation)
6. Select 00 (clears learned/stored values)
