[Biturbos4] check engine light

As Ti says you need to read the fault code(s). VagCom is an excellent
and economical tool for this. The only time my engine check light
stayed on the cause was a faulty temperature sensor. Dealer replaced
under warranty. Any engine misfire will cause the check engine light to
come on, but if the problem doesn't persist the dash light goes out.
Cheers.

Most likely, since its a 2000, MAF.....which will be replaced for free,
as per TSB, extended warrantee of 7 yrs and 70,000 Miles on the Bosch
MAF, again, IIRC.
you can check through VAG.COM if there's anybody in your area with a
vag, in order to avoid paying the dealer a $90 diagnostic fee.....
Hope this helps...

No way to tell for sure unless you check for fault codes stored in
the ECU. There are hundreds of possible causes of the CEL, and VAG-COM
(or ProDiag if you use PalmOS) is your friend.
