Manual trans conversions require lots of homework as Steven says. Mine
worked quite well but I am still considering modification of the flooring to
get rid of my custom mount. Though in other cars it is much easier because
the subframe holds the trans vs. the flooring. I know the 5000 series can
be converted quite easily, besides some flooring mods to get the pedal to go
to the floor everything is bolt up. My conversion has left me without
cruise control and a homemade throttle cable, but that is fixed when I find
the proper throttle body and valve cover. I would recommend the swap to
those considering it, but it is a big task, possibly quite expensive
depending on the car and it's technological level. My car is a simple car,
little electronic this and that, makes for this type of conversion a fair
amount easier than say a V8. Don't jump in unless you are really prepared
though.
Good Luck,
