Fuel system cleaning

I've been plagued with noisy valve lifters on my 10V
since I purchased the car. It has 154k miles on it
and I figured it was time to replace the little
buggers but I wanted to try everything else first. I
checked the vacuum pump thing as mentioned on this
list but that wasn't the problem. I switched from
15w-50 to 10w-50 Mobile 1 and still no improvement. I
then used the "Motor Flush" product before an oil
change which didn't help either. Well my last ditch
effort was to go to Jiffy Lube and have them perform
their $50.00 fuel system cleaning procedure. Guess
what, It worked! All sorts of power and no more noisy
valves! They even clean out the throttle body. I
don't know what that stuff is, but I'm impressed. I
think all they put into the crank case is brake fluid
or some thing like it. That's an old mechanics trick.
They also put regular fuel system cleaner in the gas
tank. The direct induction track cleaning which is
injected directly into the vacuum intake is probably
what did it. I have a friend who is a senior mechanic
and he said that procedure us is one of the least
performed on cars and has always worked for him. The
product his dealership uses is called "44K". It's
very expensive so you may want to just have it done by
someone instead since they have the gauge needed to
provide the gradual drip needed to be truly affective.
