Yeah, your post was right on.
I had just finished scribbling a simple diagram showing how the lights could
be hooked up wrong without blowing a fuse, when I saw your post. My
recollection that the wires were backward based on your ASCII diagrams was
confirmed when I went home. Little screwdriver in, pull the clips out swap,
snap.
Viola!
Moral of the story, don't assume the connectors you received are wired
correctly.
