I noticed an improvement with my old Ur when I changed the injectors at
160K miles. Mostly in idling and starting. The main reason I changed them
was because cyl 2 was overheating (white spark plug) due to a weak
injector. If all your plugs are the same colour you may be OK.

Yes, I think if the air plate is set at the correct rest height fuel will
not flow until you lift it. I got the fuel pump to run by swopping the
fuel pump relay for a standard relay so when the ignition was turned on
the pump ran. This is easier than making a jumper wire and finding which
terminals to connect too.
I lifted the plate slowly and initially it dribbled a bit but soon it gave
a conical spray creating a fine mist, no large droplets. I pulled out all
the injectors and put them into a bucket for the test.
This test is obviously a fire hazard, I'd recommend you have an assistant
to switch on and off the fuel pump, also the engine must be cold and
ensure grandad does not wander in with his pipe lit.
