Snow tires (M&S)

The point that I was trying to make is that there is no need to buy studded
snow tires if it is only going to snow 5 times a winter.  I fully know that
mud and snow tires do not perform as well as studded snow tires, but you
can still use M$S tires in the snow and just use extra caution.  Why spend
upwards of $400 dollars on a set of tires that will only be used for what
they are designed for a couple times a year.
