I agree - I think keeping them separate is very much in OUR interests.

We're the "gear-heads" - we fix obscure stuff on (gasp!) old cars, get our
hands dirty, read the parts books (!) and buy the Bentleys.

Those guys are the posers - the only interest they might have in Michelle
Mouton's personal URQ is how many watts does the radio put out.

We'd lose big time if we joined the mass-market crowd - ours is a VERY
specialized VERY unique special interest group. There's no way I could or
would justify wading through hours of digests talking mostly about the best
wax for an A-4 or the loudest stereo - I'd find other uses for my time.

Do not try to be all things to all people - you will wind up pleasing none
of them.
