audi 200tq 89 air filter change

Does the '89 have the same spring-latch closure devices as on my '87 
5kqt?  I took a hook off one of those heavy-duty pants hangers and used 
that to snag and pop open the latches.  Saved about half a dozen 
lacerations on my forearm from previous attempts to open that filter box.
