I have my 89 200q all ripped apart, and I ran into the
same thing they described to you. The rear bearing
lock rings were really rusted and it took over an hour
to get the first ring and bearing out. It really
helps to clean the area as much as possible with
rotary wire wheels and a seal pick. I also used lots
of penetrating oil and a little heat. Once you get
the lock rings out, really clean the rusted area of
the bore that the old bearing will pass on its way
out. This really makes the pressing procedure much
easier. BTW, I figured out why the bearing "kit"
costs so much more than the bearing itself. The M82
internal retaining rings (82mm x 2.5mm) cost
$3.75-$5.50 ea.! Luckily I only damaged 2. Plus,
that trick axle bolt with the bearing washer must cost
a fortune. Hope this helps someone else avoid alittle
misery.
