I've just spotted splicing connectors by 3M and other manufacturers.
Like a crimp connector, but filled with solder, surrounded with a head
shrink sleeve. The wires go in and you use a blow torch or heat gun to
shrink the sleeve and at the same time melt the solder to seal it all up
nicely inside and provide a very tight connection. Seems much like the
factory battery clamps I want to replace. The ones that are soldered or
welded down pretty good. I wonder if they make a unit big enough to
replace the famous battery cable splice? :)
