Where are they built?

Thanks, Tom. I'm not surprised to hear that. I have had very bad luck
with vehicles which were assembled here in the U.S. I had a Mazda which
rattled like a can of marbles.. assembled in Michigan. I had a Ford F150
which was tight as a drum.. assembled in Canada. I had a Mercury Sable
which was another can of marbles.. assembled in the U.S. (I forget where
precisely.) Now I have an A4 which is tight as a drum.. and so it comes as
no surprise to learn it was assembled elsewhere.
One hears stories of angry assembly line people in the U.S. who do things
like toss a bolt into a part of the body before assembling that portion,
just to guarantee a permanent rattle in the car. Sad, no?
I don't mean to malign U.S. auto workers.. I'm sure the majority are true
professionals. But I suspect they work under very great stress, and they
are simply human. Why is it that other countries can produce higher
quality products? Does anyone have any insights into this?
I am slowly learning about this lovely vehicle I've acquired, and about the
people who built it. I'm very impressed so far.
Regards,
Bob
