(Tim?):  my 90 200TQAvant does ~3000rpm @80MPH.  I have more hills here than
Texas, so tall gears would help you and not put serious extra strain on the
motor, but my 86 4000Q turns ~4000 RPM at 80MPH so I can see why the 200Q
gets similar gas mileage (weighing ~800  lbs more and aero shape) and less
engine wear when sailing @ 80MPH
With the ~1000 RPM savings on roughly the same 2.2 block;  How low are you
looking to go?

Only problem is a 6 speed tranny really doesn't change your RPM for freeway
drives.  6th gear=5th gear in a 5 speed.  Just the other gears are closer in
ratio together to get 0-60 quicker.
Maybe if you could change your final drive....
