Off-Lease Auto Auction in Toronto - Audis on sale cheap!

Today was the day that Volkswagen/Audi Canada sold off their excess lease
return inventory - some of the prices are simply incredible.

In particular - 1998 - A8 loaded, all the goodies, dealer maintained,
silver/black leather, 48,000 KM (approx. 30,000 miles) a few months left on
Audi warranty - $48,500 CDN or approx. $31,000 US !!!

or

1999 - A8 also loaded, a dark blue on (I think) tan leather, loaded, one +
year of warranty, 50,500 KM (approx. 32,000 miles) excellent condition -
$57,500 CDN or $36,000 US!!!

My buddy bought that one - didn't tell me about the auction till
afterward... :( - but I'm Looking forward to test driving that A8!

He said there were some 15 A8's from 97-99 model years that were all sold at
auction. They also sold another 55 or so other models at liquidation prices.
Next year I'm definitely going to stick my nose in there. There are some
really nice deals to be had on Canadian cars when $1.00 CDN equals $0.6349
US. (From Bloomburg.com) Maybe it's time to get into the auto export
business? Hmmmmmmmm.......

Does anyone know what performance gains can be had by chipping said 1999 A8?
Any advice on where to look? What about any other performance improvements
for this barely broken in beastie? I told my friend that I would see what I
could find out for him.
