You can swap the seat covers between a 4k FWD and CGT seat back to retain
the swing forward feature...BTDT. When you do that, just exchange seat
bottoms as a unit; no need to disassemble 'em. It's a PITA the first time
or two...and still not something I enjoy doing.
A 4k FWD or CGT seat can be made into a 4kq seat (BTDT too) by swapping the
roll-back handle mechanisms added to the 4kq seat to clear the higher
driveshaft/exhaust tunnel. The q seat becomes a FWD seat by removing the
extra roll-back mechanism; however, the seat cover doesn't look right where
the roll back mechanism used to be (from what I remember, you'll have a hole
and some dents in the seat cover...)
Or then again, you could go with aftermarket racing or GT seats for probably
close to the price of reupholstering. Corbeau Targa RS's (in my '83 CGT)
start 'round $300 & change a piece, but the mounting brackets suck, so
you'll hafta weld your own (Yep, BTDT too...)
