Opinions, eh? I've got a few I can spare tonight.
If the rotors are fine, leave them alone. IME, if you turn them, they will
be warped within 6 months. If they need to be turned, throw them away and
install new ones. Trust me on this. I've been down the cheap path several
times and ended up buying new ones anyway.
Use the OEM spec fluid. It's good stuff, is compatible with what's in there,
and is cheap enough to flush every 2 years. For street driving, you don't
need anything more, and you certainly don't need the aggravation of sludging
up the brake system with some super mouse milk fluid that isn't compatible
with the OEM stuff. Whatever you put in there, it should be flushed every
two years in spite of what the adverts on the bottle say.
The rear brakes on the 5ktq are so lightly loaded they can barely keep the
rotors clean. Upgraded pads are a waste of money. I used rear pads I got at
CTC for $25 a set on my 5ktq - worked great and were worth every penny. The
front brakes do all the work on this car.
I guess that's opinionated enough.
