Brake pads

I didn't realize the Hawk HPS and the Porterfield R4S are the same pad. I've
also heard that the Weston Cool Carbons are the same as the R4S.
The R4S is my favorite street pad; they dust a bit (black, not white),
squeal occasionally under light use (non-slotted rotors), but they will stop
a S4 with G60's on it as well as can be expected. I plan to use them with
the Boxster calipers on my other car, which sees a fair amount of track
time.
If you want a totally decent totally dustless , squeal-less street pad, the
Axxis Metalmasters are ok. I used them with the ATE grooved rotors on my
ex-5000tq.
For race pads, the Performance Friction 90 is easier to modulate and gentler
on rotors than any of the Hawk race pads I've tried. The Pagid Orange work
great on the track, but are hard on rotors and generate a lot of heat, which
the G60's don't dissipate very well. Of course, race pads are too noisy and
dusty for street use and not very effective until they reach optimal
operating temps.

Bull S*#t,
There are plenty of good pads that dont dust a lot. For your
info. I have Pagid street Pads, they are decent. For the Track
I'll take Pagid Oranges. But for a car that sees both, the Hawk
HPS are Great. The dust is NOT hard to clean, easier than the
Pagid dust. Its a whitish dust from the carbon pads so it
doesnt look bad as fast. And the pads are MUCH better.
Drilled rotors will howl as the air vents but with HPS pads
and slotted rotors I get no squeel. Best you do some more
research Brian. No offense, but if you havent driven the Hawk
Street pads you cant really offer a judgement on them can you.
Also, Hawk and Porterfield are basically the same pads. Just
different names. The the Hawk HPS and Porterfield R4-s are the
same for anyone that cares. I love mine, better than my Pagids.
Very similar to the Perf Friction Z-rated as far I can tell.
