slick 50 -> Italian cars

I have a (possibly bogus) theory now about Slick 50 working well in
Panteris's Italian cars. I don't know if the (possibly bogus) theory holds
for the Russian cars as well. It's just a theory.
My Alfa leaks oil. She likes to be revved high, and she runs much better
after being driven hard -- which to me is almost an oxymoron. Do you guys
know what an "Italian Tune-up" is? Anyway, she leaks oil. Not only does
she leak oil, all the Alfas I know leak oil. It is NOT WRONG for an Alfa
to leak oil. (Black smoke, on the other hand....) Oh and it's a huge
inside joke about where the Alfa was last parked... (look for the oil)...
and when we do concours sometimes we pass out diapers to put under the
cars.... OK so we leak.
Once in a while a thread will go through the Alfa digest about some
poor newbie changing from regular engine oil to synthetic in an older
engine, and all of a sudden he's leaking even more oil than before! It's
just pouring out onto the garage floor by the gallons, so to speak. The
idea is that the synthetic is so clean, it's stripping all the buildup in
the engine and it was that buildup that was sealing the engine. My
(possibly bogus) theory is that the teflon, being added for a coating
purpose in the first place, *is* actually getting deposited in Pantelis's
engine. It's sealing the gaskets, so he's not losing oil, he's able to
keep good pressure and good temperature, and so the system works for him.
Works for me.
I don't think I'll add Slick 50 to my *German* car, at least not right
now. But I'm curious enough to pester the alfa digest about it. Those
guys LOVE Marvelous Mystery Oil, Redline, and Swepco.
