Antenna wont go all the way down 95 sport 90 q

All,

Well looks like the my antenna is on the fritz.  Started a few months back.
It needed a gentle tap for it to retract all the way.  I lubricated it and
this helped a little.  Now the thing wont go all the way back in and doesn't
extent 100%.  Any been there done that's?  My first inclination is to take
it apart of course.  I did pull the carpeting away in the trunk but am
holding bad till I get some input.
