newbie has 85 4KQ no start problem---help

I had the same problem

Either your soloniod (located in the starter) is bad
or you have a bad wire connection or ground fault
somewhere.

Check contacts at starter connection, this is exposed
to the road below and faces forward so corrosion is
prone. Clean up concacts. And check wiring for ground
fault.

If soloniod is bad, you need a new starter solonoid
unit (sold as one piece, anout 70 tp 80 bucks after
core return). Check back lisiting Vol 1 #2579, first
message titled "dead 4kq".
