K26 in a 91 200 20v?????? 2ND POST!!!!!!

My point was I don't think the Porsche K26 would be desirable on a nearly
stock 10vt or 20vt, particularly in the larger chassis cars. With the high
weight and tall gearing of these vehicles, and the 20v being even a peakier
engine than the 10v, you would destroy low-end and mid-range response. The
best upgrade for a stock or chipped only 5000tq is to downsize from a K26 to
a K24. Even the RS2 turbo has a smaller turbine section than the K26. Plus,
you wouldn't be able to take advantage of the larger compressor without
exhaust, fuel & intercooler upgrades (on the 20v as well as the 10v). Ask
the guys on the S-car list -- RS2 injectors, exhaust manifolds, air flow
meters, exhaust cams, large intercoolers -- all to harness the power of a
RS2 or Garrett turbo even at only 15psi.

btw, I'm not using a Porsche turbo on the 10v MC-2 in my 4000Q. I'm using a
standard Audi K26 (5000tq) with a 944-spec compressor wheel. Runs
efficiently at 15-18psi on the 10v due to exhaust, intercooler, and fuel
upgrades, but it would definitely be the wrong application for a nearly
stock 10v or 20v in a large car.

Actually w/ a 20v vs 10v, the 20v needs the bigger turbo. The Audi MC
engines got K26 turbos, so a 20v which can pump in much more air, could
deal w/ a larger compressor. If you are using a Porsche turbo on a 10v, it
could surely work for a 20v. But as long as the guy's only doing 1-1.5 bar
boost, lag will be minimal w/ the stock turbo. But beyond that, the stock
turbo wouldn't be able to handle the requirements....time for a k26...a bit
more lag, but a lot more power running all the way up to 7 grand.
