Strange Ronals

Hi all,

Just got back from a 200 km round trip to buy a set of wheels. Now that
might sound a little excessive, considering that I've got two cars and had
four sets of wheels already... but I couldn't resist buying these. They're
4x108, 14x6 16-spoke... ET35!
While the stock 4kq 14x6 ET45 wheels have the lip almost flush with the
spokes (the spokes even sticking out slightly), these have a lip of 3/4"
that protrudes beyond the spokes.
The previous owner had the wheels on his '88 80, so I know they'll fit.
They came with two GoodYear Eagle NCT2s in decent shape, and two 'round,
black, holds air' with little tread remaining. All are straight, with
original paint and only minimal damage (from balancing weights, not from
kerb hits).

Now the killer: these wheels, complete with bolts and 'Ronal' silver centre
caps, cost me Dfl 200- $80!

Has anyone ever seen these before? I've seen wider-lipped R8s on VWs
before, but never on Audis. The 'Ronal' centre caps to me seem to indicate
that these were aftermarket (dealer fit?) wheels, the guy I bought them
from said that they came on his one previous owner car.

They'll look excellent on my 80... I've got a pic available for those among
you who are interested.

Tom
