4000S auto trans wanted

OK, time to broaden the search a bit.  A friend of mine is 
going to Albuquerque next weekend to pick up an MGB.  I 
could hitch a ride with him.  Does anybody between Denver 
and Socorro have an automatic transmission for an '87 4000S 
with 4 cylinder and front wheel drive?  I located one in 
Denver but it's $600 and I am trying to keep this thing 
low budget.  If anybody has one with a bad differential, 
I can swap the back half to mine.

I would also consider doing a conversion with a VW Fox 
5 speed if the price is right.  I would need all shift 
and clutch linkage.
