Psuedo Xenon/Plasma/otherwise high-tech headlights

I bought the 50% brighter bulbs for mine a few weeks ago when I burnt a
bulb. I put the new one in the passenger side headlight and left the old
one in the driver's side headlight, just to test. Turns out that they look
exactly the same, so I kept the other 50% (now a misnomer) bulb as a spare.
It is the actual lens itself that sucks. The Euro kit is probably your best
bet. Other people might comment, but I seem to remeber also that some have
converted to the old two lens design (5000 up to '84?) to increase
brightness. Could be wrong, though.
Also, I was under the impression that the Euro kits aren't DOT approved and
therefore can't be "legally" put on cars intended for US roads.

Subject: Psuedo Xenon/Plasma/otherwise high-tech headlights
Greetings,
I recently purchased an '88 5KCSTQ and the headlights are not very bright
nor do they throw much light down the road (Although it is a lot better
than the 84 4KQ I had a few years ago...)
I would love to get brighter lights but don't want to undertake what seems
like the daunting task of rewiring the harness for a genuine HID upgrade.
I have seen ads on eBay for those "super bright" lights that claim not to
fry your stock wiring harness. Anyone have any luck with these types of
lights?
Plan B: I was at PepBoys the other day and saw a new Sylvania 9004 bulb
that claimed to be "50% brighter" and the bulb itself had a bluish tint to
it, although I didn't look at it long enough to determine if it had any
exotic gasses in it. Any word on this product?
Any recommendations and/or warnings greatly appreciated!
Best regards,
Minh
