Could I kill my steering rack?

I like to drive like this unless I have to park in a city. This is not a fun
at all. But the problem is that I want to buy another audi for myself and
give this one to my wife and there is no way she will agree. I NEED to fix
it! Changing rack is the last resort but I want to understand the possible
reason first.
