Gas in the Oil, 5KCST

I looked up this problem,- gas in the oil, in the archive, and it was
discussed three years ago but it didn't have an answer. My symptom are very
similar to the lister in 1997. Like the lister in 1997, I had recently
changed the oil and filter, drove the car often short distances, and found
gas in the oil.

I also noticed that when the ignition was turned part way on, a small motor
was running. Trying to trace the sound, I believe it was coming from the
fuel pump running continuosly. I first smelled gas then.

Then the car wouldn't start. I started checking all sorts of things and
eventually found that the oil was too high, and when I drained it, too two
many quarts drained out. The oil was mixed with gasoline.

Is this very dangerous? What should I look for?

Here what was said aobout this type of problem three years ago,

Audi Gurus:
I just changed the oil and filter in the 88 5KCST. I drive it one mile each
way to work. After driving a week, the oil level is above the full mark,
watery thin, and smelling like gas. Oil sample goes for analysis and guess
what; they call saying there is gas in the oil. My quess is the injector(s)
are remaining open after shutdown and fuel is running into the cylinders and
eventually past the rings. Help. I figure I can test the injectors easy
enough, but before I tear into it ...any other ideas or wise experience out
there?

TIA,
Carmen
88 5KCST
my other car is AWD

Just drive it and get it fully warmed up (oil temp, not just coolant),
there is nothing wrong with the injectors. If you are going to keep driving
it 2 miles a day you will have a lot more trouble: rings, bearings,
muffler, seals, and many many more
how about walking to work?
