Chris,
I just did this trick about a month back or so (I am restoring my 100
Quattro) any way if you have already dismounted the casing from the car this
is the hardest part. The casing is put together with clips all round the
casing to get to these you must first remove the insulation (the black tar
like stuff) watch out retain it if you can that insulation is important for
air leaks.
Ok if you get the insulation off go to the next step with a screw driver
carefully pry off all the clips (some may be behind the tubing -be careful).
next remove the temp sensor from the top casing-this thing is a probe that
goes right into the evap.
Ok almost there the main flap is next this is the huge flap in the front
it's the only one (for the recirc air) for this it's just some screws around
the perimeter of the flap opening ..I wish I had this already on my site it
would be allot easier...
now there is one last thing there is a plunger or air actuator that moves
this flap to disengage this thing all you have to do is just turn the center
nut on the flap until it is removed...
if you have done all this -then you can ***carefully***separate the cases to
expose the evap..
I will be putting this on my site some time next week...
Good luck & for more info just write.
Paul
