In over ten years of military flying, my various cars have all sat for lots 
of months through Michigan winters and Texas summers.  The heat can do a lot 
of damage to an interior, sun shields are great.  I always left the tank 
full to minimize condensation.  Rarely did anyone's car fail to start when 
we got back from a month's deployment.  One of my synchros had a hornets 
nest building in the fender in front of the driver's door.  After four hours 
on the highway, they were all gone.
